Ludgate Hill - Top to Bottom

Rebecka Kanto
.
This little cardboard house leads a life totally of its own. On every floor of the house on Ludgate Hill dwells a mystery. Why is the landlord suddenly fainting? Why does the little girl visiting the shop on the bottomfloor together with her mother look so frightened? What about the couple that outwardly seem to be living a very fortunate life - why the distance inbetween them? Is the courtesan renting a room on the top floor having second thoughts about her life? And why is the hobo hiding in the attic looking to the sky as if he desperately needed a miracle?
.
Rebecka Kanto, the young artist making these fabulous creations, says she does a lot of research on victorian lifestyle before she starts a new house - this is not the only one! No doubt. Looking more closely at the photographs hanging on the walls of this very specific house You can even find her own family represented on tiny, tiny portraits dressed in clothing typical for the victorian period in time. During the Open House-exhibition at Night of Arts in Vasa the artist herself with her entire clan showed up in epoque characteristic dresses themselves aswell!
.
I will have to say I admire her enthusiasm, persistence and precision!
